Wayne Dodwell

A health care professional with more than two decades of managerial experience, Wayne Dodwell is currently the Principal of Dodwell @ Associates, a health care consultancy he founded in 2009. Prior to the creation of Dodwell @ Associates, Wayne Dodwell was the President and CEO of Down East Health System, a hospital, nursing care facility, and physician practice health care organization located in Machias, Maine. As CEO, Wayne Dodwell managed an annual operating budget of $34 million, increasing the hospital’s net revenue by 71 percent between 2002 and 2008. Wayne Dodwell was also responsible for the creation of a master facility plan to improve the hospital’s infrastructure and a physician network development plan that recruited 23 new physicians. Elevating the hospital’s reputation in the community was also one of Wayne Dodwell’s priorities. He organized a patient safety initiative that earned the hospital a Tier 1 preferred provider ranking and facilitated a customer service improvement process that resulted in top rankings on Press Ganey patient satisfaction surveys. For his work at Down East, Wayne Dodwell earned many honors, including the New England Healthcare Assembly’s 2007 Trustee of the Year Award and an honorable mention at the 2008 Modern Healthcare Trustee of the Year awards. Wayne Dodwell has also been a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives since 1998. Additionally, Wayne Dodwell is a board member of Children’s Friend and Family Services, a lab survey team leader for the College of American Pathologists, and a public policy committee member for the Maine Hospital Association. Educated at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he earned a B.S. in Medical Technology and an M.H.A. in Health Care Administration with honors, Wayne Dodwell currently resides in Amesbury, Massachusetts.
